Game Summary

AUSTINTOWN Hoover’s Erick Howard had another big offensive day as the Vikings edge Fitch in double overtime. Howard scored on runs of ten, one and three yards, as well as a 64-yard touchdown pass to contribute to his 258 total yards.

Fitch quarterback Jon Ballard connected for 3 touchdown passes to Quinton Pirl for 6 yards, Terry Terrigno for 57 yards and Sam Mariano for 20 yards, as well as rushing for a touchdown.

Hoover trailed by 10 midway through the fourth quarter when quarterback Brett Tulodzieski found Erick Howard for a 64-yard touchdown which cut the lead to 3. Tulodzieski completed 19-of-26 passes for 258 yards.

A 21-yard field goal by A.J. Sarbaugh with 50 seconds left in regulation sent the game into overtime.

Fitch scored on the first play with a touchdown pass from Ballard to Mariano. Hoover answered with its possession on a 3-yard run by Howard.

In the second overtime Sarbaugh kicked a 23-yard field goal to take the lead but Fitch fumbled on third and goal from the one to end the game.

Hoover’s Dan Nettleton caught 7 passes for 69 yards and a touchdown and Fitch’s Sylvester Gibbs and Nick Groat both added a touchdown run.
