Game Summary

A goal-line stand in the final seconds allowed Akron East to hang on to a 24-17 win over Hoover at Memorial Stadium.

East outgained Hoover 342-254 to improve to 3-0 overall, including 2-0 against Federal League teams. The Dragons opened the season with a win at Jackson.

Kyrie Williams rushed for a game-high 148 yards on 16 carries for East, while also throwing for 88 yards. Teammate Romeo Felton gained 68 yards and scored two TDs on 19 carries.

Connor Ashby threw for 182 yards to lead Hoover. Drew Johnson caught six passes for 56 yards.

Adam Griguolo led the Vikings’ rushing attack with 61 yards and a score on 19 carries.
