Game Summary
LEXINGTON—The Vikings’ defense held the Minutemen to 144 total yards and forced three turnovers, as Hoover earned its their first win of the season.
The special teams also played a big role for the Vikings.
Up 13-0 and attempting a punt in the third quarter on 4th-and-10, Junior, Dom Iero faked it, then threw a 39-yard TD pass to Junior, Sam Woods.
Hoover also got a 44-yard punt return for a score from Junior, Xavier Hogan in the fourth quarter.
The Vikings got on the board in the first quarter, when Austin Appleby found Brandon Race for a 21-yard TD pass.
Appleby, who was 9-of-24 for 97 yards, also had a 3-yard TD run.
Sophomore, Alex Welsh led the Vikings’ rushing attack with 99 yards and a 1-yard TD run.
