Hoover 24 - Brush 20
LYNDHURST Nate George’s 21-yard touchdown run early in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference in Hoover’s season-opening win at Brush.
George ran for 55 yards on 11 carries and caught a 22-yard TD pass from John Keller as the Vikings won after going 2-8 last year. Keller completed 22 of 34 passes for 188 yards.
George’s game-winning score, which was set up by a muffed punt, answered an 80-yard touchdown run by Brush’s Christian Wright, who finished with 129 yards on nine carries.
Hoover forced six turnovers, including interceptions by Mike Sandt and Eric Sarbaugh. Sarbaugh went 3-for-3 on PATs and added a 24-yard field goal. Ben Harris led the Vikings with five catches for 65 yards.
