Game Summary

Hoover junior QB Connor Ashby threw five first-half touchdown passes in leading the Vikings to the win at GlenOak in the Federal League opener for both.

Ashby thew for 225 yards, going 9-for-10. He is 21-of-22 throwing the ball against GlenOak the last two years for 501 yards and nine TDs. His five TD passes Friday give him 14 for the season. He’s thrown just one interception this year.

The Vikings entered as Stark County’s second-highest scoring team at 44.3 points per game and had surpassed that mark by halftime when it led 49-14.

In addition to Ashby, Adam Griguolo rushed for 136 yards and two TDs on 12 carries, wile also catching four passes for 97 yards and two more scores. Brock Henne caught three passes for 121 yards and two TDs. Drew Johnson also had a TD catch among his two receptions.

Defensively, J.R. Ruppert returned a fumble 92 yards for a TD for the Vikings.

GlenOak QB Isaiah Knox completed 13 of 19 passes for 248 yards with two TDs. Jamiel Randle caught three passes for 106 yards and a TD, while Logan Scott caught four passes for 82 yards and a score. Kindel Richardson caught a team-high six passes for 75 yards. Leeshawn Johnson led GlenOak on the ground with 84 yards and a TD on 16 carries.
