Game Summary
Connor Ashby completed 10 of 18 passes for 108 yards and a touchdown and also ran 15 times for 102 yards and two TDs for Hoover (6-3), which saw its playoff hopes take a huge hit on the road.
After falling behind 28-7 late in the second quarter, the Vikings rallied to stay within striking distance for the entire second half.
Hoover’s Ryan Prusinowski scored on a 1-yard touchdown run with 3:33 left to get the Vikings within two, 37-35, but Hartley answered with a 1-yard touchdown run by Jalan January with 1:21 left to put the game away.
Hoover got within a touchdown on Jonah Cline’s 24-yard field goal with 14 seconds left to complete the scoring.
Adam Griguolo rushed 33 times for 169 yards and a TD for the Vikings, who will need to beat Jackson and get some help to have a chance at their first playoff berth since 2012. Drew Johnson caught seven passes for 38 yards and a TD and Trent Graham had two catches for 70 yards.
January carried 27 times for 269 yards and four TDs for Hartley (7-2), while Miles Fleming added 105 yards on 10 carries with a TD.
